Great Falls resident Harry I. Martin, Jr., the former owner, president and chief executive officer of an information technology company, Intelligent Decisions, Inc. , pled guilty this week to a federal charge stemming from gratuities that he and his company provided to a former contracting official with the U.S. Department of the Army in return for preferential treatment and government contracts, according to a news release from the FBI. Martin has led the company since its founding in 1988 and resigned from the company, headquartered in Ashburn, last month, according to the Washington Business Journal.

Charles Severance enters the courtroom in Ohio County Circuit Court in Wheeling, W.Va., for his extradition hearing. Severance is a person of interest in three slayings in Alexandria, Va., but is currently being held on a fugitive warrant from Loudoun County, Va., because he was accused of illegally having a gun.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow in Loudoun County from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday. "Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous," according to the NWS statement.

The attorneys for a man charged with three murders in Alexandria over the last 11 years have asked a judge to restrict evidence prosecutors are allowed to present at trial or throw out the murder charges altogether. Defense attorneys for 54-year-old Charles Severance submitted the request in filings in Alexandria Circuit Court Tuesday, The Washington Post reports.
