On Monday, the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority will kick off a series of widening and improvement projects along Route 28 through Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William counties. This is the first official event celebrating NVTA-funded major projects since it began receiving federal funding on July 1, 2013.

Home Farm , a designated Virginia Historic Landmark on the National Register of Historic Places, was recently listed for sale at $875,000. The farm, at 40332 Mount Gilead Rd. in Leesburg, dates to the 1700s, when early histories of the area suggest that the Sycolin Indian tribe spent their summers from 1716 to 1719 on the front pasture land.

A Chantilly resident told the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office on Sunday that he lost money to a con artist posing on the phone as an agent of the Internal Revenue Service. The resident, who lives in the 42400 block of Fawn Meadow Place, received a call from a person claiming to be with the IRS, the sheriff's office said.

Loudoun County police arrested a Germantown, Md., woman after she struck a pedestrian with her vehicle early Sunday morning on Route 7. The pedestrian was airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and later released, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. The collision occurred at about 5 a.m., a police report said.
