When the 38-year-old Parlin resident saw officers approaching he tried to flee, but allegedly struck an unmarked police vehicle and a detective from the Middlesex County prosecutor's office.

A police officer fired his weapon at the target of a drug bust in Sayreville on Thursday after the suspect attempted to flee the scene by striking multiple police vehicles and a detective with his car - the incident is now under investigation by The N.J. Attorney General's Shooting Response Team. Isaiah D. Roberts, 38, of Parlin, was the target of an undercover drug operation conducted by the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office Narcotics Task Force behind the Rite Aid Pharmacy at 3553 Washington Road in Sayreville.

A former county college basketball coach and recreational center director has been indicted on charges he sexually assaulted two boys and engaged in sexually explicit conversations with two others. A 25-count indictment charges Christopher Tarver, of Jackson Township, with crimes including official misconduct, sexual assault, criminal sexual contact and child endangerment.

METUCHEN - State authorities are reporting crashes on several major Middlesex County highways, and have reduced the speed on the Outerbridge Crossing after an overnight snowstorm. The Outerbridge Crossing from Perth Amboy to Staten Island now has a 35 miles per hour speed restriction, according to 511nj.org.
