The Loudoun County Fire Marshal's Office has determined that a fire on Tuesday that destroyed an abandoned house in Leesburg was caused by arson, county officials said in a statement. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries in the blaze, which caused $280,000 in damage, according to the fire marshal.

In recent months, burglars appear to have targeted the homes of residents who own Chinese restaurants, and police in the area are investigating the break-ins, according to media reports. The burglaries have occurred in the Herndon area and the Fair Oaks section of Fairfax County, and in Ashburn.

For the first time in more than a decade, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors is poised to fully fund the operating budget proposed by the county school board. At a March 16 budget work session, the supervisors voted, 6 to 3, to provide enough local funding to support the proposed $982 million fiscal 2016 spending plan for county public schools.
