Local software development firm Solodev is expanding its presence in Orlando with plans to create 25 new high-wage tech jobs at its downtown headquarters, Gov. Rick Scott announced Nov. 25. The new positions will pay an average annual salary of $68,000, or about 50 percent more than the average salary in Orange County.

The SunRail commuter train will not operate on Thanksgiving, but will be back on the tracks with regular service of 34 trips on Friday. The Lynx regional bus company will offer limited runs on Thanksgiving - similar to its weekend schedule - but will make its normal stops on Friday.

A woman bonded out of the Orange County Jail Monday night, charged in connection with a random attack in downtown Orlando. Orlando police said Billie Jean Pryor , 27, ran up to two people who were dining at the outside tables at Gringos Locos restaurant on East Washington Avenue at approximately 2:15 Monday morning.

Orange County teachers have inked a deal with their school district to hold teachers harmless on the first round of Florida's new standardized tests, reports the Orlando Sentinel's Leslie Postal. The move essentially skirts the goal of Florida's 2011 merit pay law, which said teacher quality should be judged in part by student academic growth, as measured by tests.
