BRIEF: Penn State trending up for 4-star recruit; Lions push hard for 5-star prospect, and more

The Patriot-News, Harrisburg, Pa. — Dustin Hockensmith The Patriot-News, Harrisburg, Pa.

May 16--Today's Penn State football news headlines feature a looming decision date for a top target and a hard push for a five-star defensive end in Ohio State's backyard.

The Lions are trending in the right direction in advance of the May 18 decision date for North Stafford (Va.) running back Devyn Ford. Penn State has picked up 16 straight expert predictions in his 247Sports Crystal Ball, according to Sean Fitz of Lions 247, putting the Lions in position to land an impact Virginia prep runner for the second straight recruiting cycle.

Penn State remains in the hunt for Olentangy Orange (Ohio) five-star defensive end Zach Harrison, whose recruitment features few clues about which way he's leaning. The Lions are among the programs recruiting Harrison the hardest, writes Tyler Donohue for Land of 10.

In other Penn State football news, a four-star corner will announce May 21. Mike Gesicki is ready to showcase his athleticism for the Miami Dolphins, and four Lions freshmen receive their jersey numbers.
