Doctors worried that the Trump administration is withholding flu shots from detained migrants in CA sent a letter to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) dated Nov. 5. In the letter, the doctors propose a mobile vaccination unit with no cost to the government. We implore you to allow our volunteer physicians to hold our requested influenza vaccine clinic, Doctors for Camp Closure Letter, via NBC News. The doctors recently formed the group, Doctors for Camp Closure, D4CC. According to an anonymous spokesperson, DHS declined the offer. As a law enforcement agency and due to the short term nature of CBP holding and other logistical challenges, operating a vaccine program is not feasible, Anonymous Spokesperson, Customs and Border Protections, via NBC News. The doctors who signed the letter say that withholding flu shots from migrants puts both them and the public at risk. This is how epidemics begin. It's not just migrants.
