Lori Vallow Has Been Arrested in Hawaii

Newser — Rob Quinn

Police still don't know where Lori Vallow's two children are, but they know exactly where Vallow is now—the cellblock of the Kauai Police Department. The Idaho woman, whose two children have not been seen since September, was arrested in Hawaii Thursday and is being held on $5 million bond, NBC reports.

The 46-year-old was arrested on a warrant from Madison County, Idaho, where she has been charged with desertion, nonsupport of dependent children, resisting or obstructing officers, criminal solicitation to commit a crime, and contempt of court.

She failed to comply with a court order to present her children to county authorities by Jan. 30. A hearing on extraditing Vallow from Hawaii to Idaho is expected Friday or Monday.

Police say there is no sign that the children—17-year-old Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old Joshua Vallow—are on Kauai. Sources tell NBC that Vallow's husband, Chad Daybell, is not in custody.

"We wish to thank the public for the massive outpouring of concern regarding this case," said Kauai Chief of Police Todd G. Raybuck, per the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.

Investigators in Idaho say they believe Vallow, who left a storage unit full of children's items behind when she left the state in November, either knows where the children are or knows what happened to them.

Vallow's previous husband, Charles Vallow, was killed by her brother in July last year. In divorce papers filed months earlier, he said she had claimed she was a god assigned to prepare for "Christ's second coming in July 2020."
