Timmy Hill interviewed by wife at home after strong NASCAR iRacing finish

Sporting News — (Dan Bernstein)

Timmy Hill was magnificent on the virtual race track on Sunday, cruising to a third-place finish in NASCAR's first iRacing Pro Series exhibition.

Afterward, Hill conducted an even better interview, standing up from his padded chair- and steering wheel-equipped computer setup to give fans the content they crave.

The reporter? His wife, Lucy Hill.

"Excellent job by (first-place Denny Hamlin and second-place Dale Earnhardt Jr.), those guys did a great job all day long. Think I could've had them," Hill said, fighting off laughter. "But we'll never know."

MORE: What is NASCAR's iRacing Pro Series?

The iRacing Pro Series is made up of a large cast of NASCAR drivers hopping on their simulation systems to compete against one another virtually. The races are broadcast on TV and streamed online, and Sunday's bout at Homestead-Miami Speedway seemed to garner a positive reception from fans online.

Hamlin, who led the field on Sunday, spearheaded the effort to put the Series together. He recruited drivers and helped them train for the first race.

Hill was perhaps the most impressive performer of the afternoon with his top-three finish using a fairly basic gaming setup.

With more practice, Hill could be a contender to finish even higher moving forward.
